An IndiGo airline plane bound for Dubai reportedly made an emergency landing at the Karachi airport in Pakistan.
The passenger travelling in the IndiGo Airline flight 9E1736 fell sick in mid-flight. Following this, the captain of the plane contacted the Karachi Air Traffic Control and conveyed the need to make an emergency landing. The passenger, identified as a Nigerian national, however, passed away before the flight could make the landing.
A Civil Aviation Authority spokesperson in Karachi later confirmed that a flight from Indian airlines was headed to Dubai from Delhi. However, the health of a passenger deteriorated mid-flight and the captain sought an emergency landing at the Karachi airport.
According to a statement, the flight 6E-1736 was diverted due to the medical emergency but “unfortunately, on arrival, the passenger was declared dead by the airport medical team.
The airline expressed its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased passenger. “We are deeply saddened by the news and our prayers and wishes are with his family and loved ones,” IndiGo said in the statement.
